Women's Track & Field team opens outdoor season with 7-0 record at Muskie Duals

NEW CONCORD — The Ohio Northern women's track and field team opened its 2017 outdoor season by posting a 7-0 record at the Muskie Duals at McConagha Stadium on Saturday.
The Polar Bears were led by freshman Taylor Lavey (Findlay), who won the 100 dash in :13.38 and the long jump with a leap of 4.89 meters.
Senior Meagan Ellinger (Bath, Ind./Union County) and sophomore Tia Harris (Newton Falls) each won an event and finished second in another event for ONU.
Ellinger won the 200 dash in :26.61 and was second in the 400 dash in :58.47 and Harris won the shot put with a toss of 10.71 meters and was second in the discus with a heave of 34.33 meters.
Junior Kelly Wollenslegel (Clyde) won the pole vault by clearing 3.35 meters.
Five other Polar Bears posted second place finishes.
Senior Nicole Huber (Findlay) was second in the 800 run in 2:27.60, senior Genevieve Marchese (Beavercreek/Carroll) was second in the 1500 in 4:56.87, senior Rebecca Olashuk (Defiance/Tinora) was second in the hammer throw with a distance of 41.00 meters, sophomore Kristina Myers (Orient/Central Crossing) was second in the 5000 run in 18:52.58 and freshman Maggie Krause (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) was second in the pole vault by clearing 3.20 meters.
The Polar Bears will return to action next Saturday at the Cedarville Invitational.
