Sophomore Emily Richards breaks school record to lead Women's Track & Field to a sixth place finish at All-Ohio

DELAWARE — Sophomore Emily Richards broke the 400-meter school record and teamed up with junior Allie Gast, junior Michelle Mosler and senior Kristine Wagner to claim the 4x100-meter relay school record as women's track and field finished 6th of 18 teams Saturday afternoon at the All-Ohio Championships.

The Polar Bears improve to 52-7 overall.

Ohio Wesleyan won the meet with 122 points, followed by Oberlin in second with 98.

Richards finished second in the 400-meter dash with a school record time of 56.22. She broke her previous record of 56.79 set earlier this season.

The 4x100-meter relay team of Richards, Gast, Mosler, and Wagner finished fifth with a school record time of 49.00. They broke the previous time of 49.60.

Freshman Madison Reed claimed a second place finish in the pole vault with a height of 11 feet 11.75 inches.

Junior Kelsey Commager also had success in the meet as she finished second in the triple jump with a season best leap of 36 feet 8.5 inches. She also claimed a sixth place finish in the long jump with a distance of 17 feet 2 inches.

Gast claimed a fourth place finish in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 15.01.

In the pole vault, senior Sarah Ballmer finished fourth with a season best height of 11 feet 11.75 inches, while sophomore Kelly Wollenslegel finished eighth with a height of 10 feet 8 inches.

Senior Michaela Dramis finished sixth in the hammer throw with a pitch of 146 feet 10 inches and seventh in the javelin with a throw of 102 feet 5 inches.

Freshman Tia Harris finished sixth in the shot put with a pitch of 38 feet 5.5 inches.

The 4x400-meter relay of freshman Taylor Fisher, Wagner, Mosler, and Richards finished sixth in a time of 3:59.83.

In the long jump, Wagner claimed a ninth place finish clearing a height of 17 feet, while senior Julie Amos finished ninth in the high jump with a height of 4 feet 11.75 inches.

Senior Margaret Sorg finished 10th in the 3,000 steeplechase in a time of 12:06.26, while freshman Ashlie Baumann finished 10th in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 18:57.07.

The Polar Bears return to action Saturday as they host the Polar Bear Invitational at Kerscher Stadium.
