Freshman Maddy Reed leads Women's Track & Field to a 2nd place finish at the Marv Frye Invitational

DELAWARE — Freshman Maddy Reed led the Ohio Northern women's track and field team to a second place finish Sunday afternoon at the Marv Frye Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan.
The Polar Bears improve to 40-2 overall on the season.
Ohio Wesleyan won the meet with 158 points, while Case Western finished third with 104 points.
Reed won the pole vault with a height of 12 feet 2.75 inches, ranking her seventh in the nation in the event.
Sophomore Emily Richards claimed a first place finish in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:38.02.
Senior Rebekah McCutchen won the 5,000-meter run in 18:35.20.
In the long jump, sophomore Rebecca Carman finished second with a leap of 16 feet 10.75 inches.
Freshman Avery Ewing claimed a third place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:24.64.
Carman also claimed a fourth place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 34 feet 9.75 inches. Freshman Stephanie Walton finished fifth in the event with a jump of 33 feet 8.75 inches.
In the high jump, senior Julie Amos claimed fourth with a height of 5 feet .25 inches.
Junior Allie Gast led the way in the 100-hurdles finishing second in 15.01, followed by Carman in fourth in 15.96 and senior Kristine Wagner in seventh in 16.41.
Sophomore Kelly Wollenslegel finished fifth in the pole vault with a personal best height of 10 feet 11 inches, followed by senior Sarah Ballmer in sixth with a height of 10 feet 5.25 inches and senior Gabrielle Heck in ninth clearing a height of 9 feet 11.25 inches.
Gast also garnered a fifth place finish in the javelin throw with a pitch of 102 feet 1 inch.
Freshman Mallory Weininger finished sixth in the high jump clearing a height of 4 feet 10.25 inches.
Junior Genevieve Marchese finished seventh in the 1,500-meter run in 5:03.02, while Gast took seventh in the 200-meter dash in 26.37.
In the shot put, freshman Tia Harris claimed fourth with a pitch of 37 feet 10.50 inches, while freshman Rachel Foust finished seventh with a toss of 33 feet 5.75 inches and junior Rebecca Olashuk claimed tenth with a throw of 32 feet 3.75 inches.
Junior Nicole Huber finished ninth in the 800-meter run in 2:32.69, while senior Margaret Sorg claimed ninth in the 5,000-meter run in 19:35.36 and junior Meagan Ellinger claimed tenth in the 400-meter run in 1:02.33.
The Polar Bears return to action Saturday as they compete at the All-Ohio Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan.
