4x800-meter relay team leads Women's Track & Field on day one of OAC Outdoor Championships

ALLIANCE ‑ The 4x800-meter relay team of junior Rebekah McCutchen, senior Catie Huber, freshman Alexis Kandel, and freshman Emily Richards led Ohio Northern women's outdoor track and field team on day one of the OAC Outdoor Championships hosted at Mount Union Stadium.
The Polar Bears are currently in second place with 42 points.
Mount Union is in first with 74 points and Otterbein in third with 38 points.
Northern posted a strong day of competition as the Polar Bears claimed four top three finishes.
The 4x800 meter relay team of McCutchen, Catie Huber, Kandel, and Richards claimed Northern's first win in school history in the event at an OAC Championship with a time of 9:29.65, garnering All-OAC honors.
Senior Sam Hoffman placed second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 11:39.07, earning All-OAC honors.
In the javelin, sophomore Kendra Paul finished second with a throw of 38.62 meters, garnering All-OAC honors in the event.
Sophomore Allison Gast claimed eighth in the event with a throw of 32.05 meters.
Junior Sarah Ballmer earned All-OAC honors in the pole vault with a second place finish clearing a height of 3.56 meters.
In the long jump, sophomore Rebecca Carman claimed fifth place with a leap of 5.25 meters, while junior Kristine Wagner finished sixth with a jump of 5.24 meters.
Senior Julie Puvogel finished eighth in the 10,000-meter run in 40:29.77.
The second day of competition begins on Saturday with field events at 10 am and running events at 2:35 pm.
