Women's Indoor Track & Field wins four events, finishes second at OAC North Split Meet

BEREA — The Ohio Northern women's indoor track and field team won four events and posted a second place finish at the 5-team Ohio Athletic Conference North Split Meet Friday at Baldwin Wallace.
The Polar Bears (13-1 overall) finished with 157.25 points.
Mount Union won the meet with 194.25 points, Baldwin Wallace was third with 93 points, Heidelberg was fourth with 72.25 points and John Carroll was fourth with 62.25 points.
Senior Catie Huber, sophomore Dianna Johnson-Ward and freshman Emily Richards each won individual events to lead ONU.
Huber won the 1000-meter run in 3:04.23, Johnson-Ward won the triple jump with a leap of 10.50 meters and Richards won the 400 in 1:01.38.
The distance medley relay team of junior Rebekah McCutchen, freshman Alexis Kandel, Richards and Huber won in 12:45.02.
Six other Polar Bears posted second place finishes in the meet.
Senior Raechel Moore was second in the 3000 in 11:06.21, junior Sarah Ballmer was second in the pole vault by clearing 3.22 meters and junior Julie Amos was second in the high jump by clearing 1.55 meters.
Sophomore Allison Gast was second in the 55 dash in :07.62, sophomore Kelsey Commager was second in the triple jump with a leap of 10.38 meters and Kandel was second in the 800 in 2:30.29.
The 4x200 relay team of Gast, senior Gabrielle Metzner, junior Kristine Wagner and sophomore Meagan Ellinger was second in 1:48.39.
Metzner, Wagner, junior Michelle Mosler and Richards were second in the 1600 relay in 4:12.11.
The Polar Bears will return to action February 7 when they host the Joe Banks Invitational at the ONU Sports Center Fieldhouse.
