Distance Medley Team Finishes First as the Women's Track Team Wins the Defiance Invitational
DEFIANCE — The Ohio Northern women's track and field team won the Defiance Invitational on Saturday at the George M. Smart Center.
The Polar Bears won with 156 points.
Senior Gabrielle Metzner led ONU by winning the 60-meter hurdles in 9.33 seconds, and finishing fifth in the 200-meter dash in 27.73 seconds.
The 800-meter dash was won by senior Catie Huber in 2:22.88.
The Distance Medley team of junior Rebekah McCutchen, senior Raechel Moore, sophomore Morgan Rouch, and Huber won in 13:26.19.
Freshman Kelly Andrews placed third in the weight throw with a pitch of 14.14 meters.
Junior Gabrielle Heck and freshman Kelly Wollenslegel took first and second place, respectively, in the pole vault.
Both athletes recorded vaults of 2.85 meters, while Heck won the jump-off.
The Polar Bears will return to competition on Friday at the OAC Split Meet hosted by Baldwin Wallace.
