Steinbrunner breaks OAC record in 10,000-meter run Women's Outdoor Track & Field at Day 1 of OAC Championships

ALLIANCE -- Senior Alison Steinbrunner set a new OAC record in the 10,000-meter run to lead the Ohio Northern women's outdoor track & field team at Day 1 of the OAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Mount Union.
The Polar Bears end the first day of competition in sixth place with 22 points.
Mount Union is in first place with 48 points, Heidelberg is second with 35 points and Wilmington is third with 29 points.
Steinbrunner crossed the finish line in 36:42.84, which broke a 12-year conference record by more than nine seconds.
Her time is also currently the 16th fastest in the country.
Freshman Kara Sosinski also brought home All-OAC honors in the 10,000-meter run, finishing in third place with a time of 37:53.48.
The 4x800-meter relay team of juniors Laura Avino, Erin Radigan and Brooke Larsen and sophomore Catie Huber earned All-OAC status with a third place finish in 9:43.88
Competition on Saturday begins at 10 with field events and track events at 2 pm.
