Steinbrunner breaks her own record in the 5,000, highlighting Women's Track & Field's weekend

DELAWARE/COLUMBUS - The Ohio Northern women's track and field team had representation at two different meets this weekend, performing successfully in both.
On Friday at Ohio State's Jessie Owens Track Classic, junior Alison Steinbrunner set a new school record in the 5,000 run, finishing in 17:04.47 for a sixth place finish.
Steinbrunner shattered her previous record of 17:31.60, which she set in May 2010. She currently ranks second on the NCAA Division III Outdoor Qualifying list in the event.
The Polar Bears (17-14-1) followed up on Saturday with a 11th place finish of 19 teams at the 2012 All-Ohio Track & Field Championships, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan.
Northern earned 24 points; Mount Union won the meet with 109 points, followed by Baldwin-Wallace and Ohio Wesleyan with 97.2 and 87.83 points, respectively.
Junior Vicki Moga and freshman Shayla Siefker each earned fourth place finishes in their respective events to lead the Polar Bears. Moga cleared 5-0.25 in the high jump and Siefker finished the 800 run in 2:19.08.
Junior Lydia Weaver took fifth in the 1,500 in 4:49.26, while sixth place finishes went to senior Mallory Bloom in the 5,000 run (18:17.10), junior Casey Adamcik in the steeplechase (11:35.09) and freshman Gabrielle Metzner in the 100 hurdles (16.47).
Northern next competes in the Kenyon Invitational next Saturday.
