Three top finishes highlight Women's Track & Field's third place performance at WU's Mini Meet

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Ohio Northern women's track and field team finished third of six teams at the Washington (Mo.) Mini Meet on Friday evening.
Host Washington won the meet with 171.5 points, followed by Wheaton (Ill.) with 142. The Polar Bears tied with Truman State (Mo.) with 133, followed by Greenville (87) and Anderson (Ill) with 55.5 points.
Senior Aubrie Stechschulte, junior Alison Steinbrunner and sophomore Vicki Moga each posted first place finishes in their respective events.
Stechschulte won the pole vault clearing 11-6.25, Steinbrunner won the 10,000 run in 35:44.61 (an ONU record time) and Moga won the high jump clearing 5-3.
Junior Lydia Weaver earned two second place finishes for ONU, finishing second in the 800 in 2:25.41 and in the 1,500 in 4:50.64.
Senior Mallory Bloom also finished second in the 10,000 in 39:24.34.
Third place finishes went to Laura Avino in the 800 (2:26.60), Raven McLure in the discuss (109-6) and Jessica Durham in each the hammer throw (126-2) and shot put (35-4).
The 4x400 team of Avino and sophomores Katie Klopp, Brittany Lang and Brooke Larsen finished third in 4:28.84.
The Polar Bears are next in action next Saturday at the Ohio Athletic Conference Split Meet, hosted by Wilmington.
