Sottoway, Fitzpatrick lead Women's Track & Field in first-place finish at Polar Bear Invitational
ADA — The Ohio Northern women's track & field team earned a first place finish Saturday afternoon at the Polar Bear Invitational in the ONU Sports Center.
The Polar Bears posted 163 team points, followed by Wooster with 158 points. Defiance took third as a team with 113 points, and rounding out scoring was Macomb (Mich.) with 80 points and Bluffton with 59.
First place finishers for ONU included junior Ashley Sottoway in the 400 dash in 1:03.89 and freshman Alyse Fitzpatrick in the long jump event at 4.47 meters.
ONU also took the top three spots in the 800 run, led by senior Amanda Binkey in 2:26.72. Freshman Brooke Larsen came in second place in 2:28.72 and junior Katie DeAngelis placed third in 2:29.74.
In the 1,000 run, sophomore Lydia Weaver took second place in 3:09.16.
Freshman Hannah Livengood also took the runner-up spot in the shot put event at 10.14 meters.
Another second place finisher for ONU was freshman Rachael Edeburn recording a jump of 8.06 meters in the triple jump.
Freshman Raven McLure placed second in the weight throw event at a distance of 12.39 meters.
Freshman Molly Kulp, junior Alyssa Reiter, sophomore Jordan Buchanan and freshman Jenalyn Hennon combined to take second place in the 4x200 relay in 1:55.42.
In the 55 dash, Buchanan took third place in 7.96.
The ONU 4x400 relay team also placed third in 4:32.43.
Ohio Northern will compete again on Saturday, Feb. 12, at the All-Ohio Champs at Otterbein in Westerville. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
