Zupancic's top spot in hammer throw leads Women's Track & Field at Kenyon Spring Invitational
GAMBIER — Senior Courtney Zupancic (North Ridgeville) placed first in the hammer throw Saturday afternoon to lead the Polar Bear women's track and field team at the Kenyon Spring Invitational.
Zupancic registered tosses at 44.24 for the top spot, one of her two top-five finishes of the day. She also finished fourth in the shot put at 10.26 meters.
Sophomore Vicki Moga (Stow/Monroe Falls) earned a second-place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.65 meters.
Junior Amanda Caudill (Hamilton/Fairfield) earned a pair of top-10 finishes, placing third in the javelin at 29.40 meters and seventh in the hammer throw at 26.23 meters
Other top 10 finishes included freshman Raven McLure (Hudson) taking fifth in the discus (32.64 meters), as well as fifth in the hammer throw at 28.92 meters.
Sophomore Jordan Buchanan (Goshen) took sixth in the 100-meter dash in 13.90 and eighth in the 200-meter dash in 28.56.
Junior Keira Corbett (Tipp City/Bethel) took ninth in the 1,500-meter run in 5:15.54, while freshmen Brooke Larsen (Findlay/Liberty-Benton) andBrittany Lang (Hebron/Lakewood) each finished 10th in their respective events.
Larsen finished the 800-meter run in 2:34.77, while Lang crossed the finish line in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:18.62.
The Polar Bears compete at the Ohio Athletic Conference championships next weekend at Mount Union. The first event is slated for a 6 p.m. start on Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday in Alliance.
