Bloom, Casanova lead Women's Outdoor Track & Field at Washington & Lee Carnival
LEXINGTON, Va. — The Ohio Northern Women's Track and Field team competed at the non-scoring Washington & Lee (Va.) Carnival 2011 on Friday and Saturday.
The Polar Bears were led by juniors Mallory Bloom and Kelly Casanova, as each posted a second-place finish.
Bloom finished the 10,000-meter run in 37:55.62, ahead of junior teammates Lauren Wood and Sarah Turley, who finished seventh and tenth in 40:08.79 and 41:25.41, respectively.
Casanova finished second in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:44.52.
Fellow junior Ashley Sottaway added a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing in 68.95.
In the high jump, sophomore Vicki Moga finished third, clearing 1.57 meters.
Senior Courtney Zupancic placed in the top-ten twice, finishing fourth in the hammer throw (44.17 meters) and eighth in shot put (10.24 meters).
Junior Lydia Weaver also added two top-ten finishes, finishing ninth of 39 in the 1500-meter run (4:59.45) and tenth of 48 in the 800-meter run (2:26.23).
The Polar Bears will be back in action on April 2, with an Ohio Athletic Conference Split Meet at Wilmington at 11 am.
