Women's Tennis wins 7-0 at Marietta in OAC opener

MARIETTA — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team traveled to Marietta and came away with a 7-0 victory in its Ohio Athletic Conference opener on Friday afternoon.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (12-4 overall, 1-0 OAC), Marietta (0-3 Overall, 0-2 OAC)

Match Highlights
- Fifth-year senior Regan Landis (Elkhart, Ind./Concord) and junior Katie O'Connell (Novi, Mich./Saint Catherine) won 8-0 at No. 1 doubles.
- Junior Marisa Petrunich (Brownsburg, Ind.) and sophomore Abby Cruser (Pendleton, Ind./Pendleton Heights) won 8-1 at No. 2 doubles.
- Cruser won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and Landis won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.
- O'Connell won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles and freshman Molly McLane (Westerville/Big Walnut) won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.
- Marietta only had four healthy players and forfeited the No. 3 doubles and Nos. 5 and 6 singles courts.
- Due to the Eater holiday and Marietta's small roster, ONU only traveled five players, which caused double-forfeits at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.

- The victory clinched the Polar Bears' 14th consecutive winning season.
- ONU is now 42-1 all-time against Marietta.
- Cruser leads the team with a 15-7 singles mark.
- Junior Julianne Sheldon (Ashtabula/Saint John) has a team-best 13-6 doubles record and Cruser leads the squad with a 26-17 overall record this year.
