Women's Tennis improves to 6-3 on season with 9-0 sweep of St. Francis (Ind.)

LEXINGTON — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team improved to 6-3 on the season with a 9-0 neutral site sweep of St. Francis (Ind.) indoors on Saturday.

The Match
- Sophomores Jenna Bell (Latrobe, Pa.) and Abby Cruser (Pendleton, Ind./Pendleton Heights) were two of five Polar Bears to go 2-0 on the day.
- The pair combined to win 8-1 at No. 1 doubles. Bell then won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Cruser won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.
- Sophomore Jamie Hurst (Granger, Ind./Penn) and junior Julianne Sheldon (Ashtabula/Saint John) combined to win 8-6 at No. 2 doubles, while Hurst won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 singles and O'Connell won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 singles.
- Fifth-year senior Regan Landis (Elkhart,Ind./Concord) was also 2-0 on the day. She won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles and combined with junior Miranda Wills (Ada) to win 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.
- Junior Katie O'Connell (Novi, Mich./Saint Catherine) won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 singles.
Notables
- The Polar Bears are now 16-0 all-time against the Cougars.
- The match was played after the ONU faced Wooster in the second match of a men's/women's doubleheader.
- Second-year head coach Sean Swisher is now 22-8 at the helm of the ONU women's tennis team.
