Saturday's Matches: The Ohio Northern women's tennis team continues with its stretch of season-opening road matches Saturday after defeating Adrian (Mich.) 6-3 and Manchester (Ind.) 9-0 at Adrian and competing in the Oberlin Invitational earlier this month … The Polar Bears will face host Franklin (Ind.) at 9 a.m. before taking on Rose-Hulman (Ind.) at 1 p.m. … In the event of rain, matches will be held indoors at the UIndy Tennis Center in Indianapolis, Ind. ... Freshmen Katie O'Connell and Julianne Sheldon posted 5-1 records to lead the way for ONU at the Oberlin Invitational on Sept. 10-11 … O'Connell went 2-1 in singles play and 3-0 in doubles while Sheldon went 3-0 in singles and 2-1 in doubles during the event, which was not scored for team play … Juniors Regan Landis and Jeorgia Templin and freshman Miranda Wills also played well for ONU, posting matching 4-2 records in the event … With 2-0 records, O'Connell and Sheldon lead the team in singles wins this season … Wills, Templin and sophomore Olivia Kesner are all 2-0 in doubles … O'Connell, Sheldon, Wills and Kesner lead the team in overall wins with 3 each … Franklin (Ind.) enters Saturday's match riding a two-game win streak with victories over Manchester (Ind.) and Kentucky Wesleyan after opening the season with three straight defeats … The Grizzlies are 2-1 at home this season … FC is led by sophomore Samantha Schick (3-0 in singles, 2-0 in doubles) and junior Kinley Harmon (4 wins in singles and 4 wins in doubles) … Rose-Hulman (Ind.) has dropped both of its matches this season, falling 8-1 to Millikin (Ill.) and 5-4 to Hanover (Ind.) on Sept. 10 and 11, respectively … Sophomores Taylor Goldman and Ruby Kauffman lead the Fightin' Engineers with 4 and 3 overall victories, respectively.

Head Coach Scott Wills: Wills is in his 21st season at the helm of the ONU women's tennis program … He currently stands first in coaching victories among all active Ohio college tennis coaches (NCAA DI, DII, DIII, and NAIA) and is the winningest coach in school history with a 391-104 (.790) record, including a 147-17 (.896) mark in regular season conference competition … He has also coached the program to eight regular season conference crowns and six OAC Tournament titles.
