Women's Tennis improves to 5-0 with a non-conference victory over Mount Union

LIMA —The Ohio Northern women's tennis team improved to 5-0 on the season with an 8-1 victory over Mount Union on Sunday afternoon at the Westwood Tennis and Fitness Center.
The match was considered a non-conference contest as the two teams are scheduled to meet again at Mount Union on April 24. The two schools agreed to retroactively make it a league match if either team cannot play on the 24th due to COVID-19 protocols.
Sophomore Regan Landis (Elkhart, Ind./Concord) led the Polar Bears with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles and an 8-0 win with senior Katie Curry (Oxford/Talawanda) at No. 1 doubles.
Northern swept the doubles courts as junior Ola Latala (Grosse Isle, Mich.) and freshman Olivia Kesner (Lima/Central Catholic) won at 8-2 at No. 1 doubles and senior Mackenzie Wills (Ada) and sophomore Jeorgia Templin (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) won 8-3 at No. 2 doubles.
ONU then won five of the six singles courts, led by Landis at No. 2.
Kesner won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3, Curry won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4, Wills won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 and senior Jordan Dodson (Worthington) won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.
The Polar Bears will return to action Wednesday at home against Baldwin Wallace in an Ohio Athletic Conference match.
