Women's Tennis wraps up regular season with rain-shortened loss to John Carroll

ADA — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team wrapped up its regular season with a rain-shortened 5-0 loss to John Carroll on Saturday afternoon at University Courts.
The Polar Bears fall to 18-5 overall and are 6-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Blue Streaks improve to 13-5 and win the OAC regular season title with an 8-0 mark.
ONU will be the No. 3 seed in next week's OAC Tournament and will host No. 6 seed Capital on Wednesday at 3:30 pm in a quarterfinal match.
John Carroll swept the three doubles courts, with senior Ashley Ochsenhirt (Birmingham, Ala./Briarwood Christian) and junior Mackenzie Wills (Ada) falling in a tiebreaker 8-7(6) at No. 2 doubles.
JCU them won at Nos. 3 and 1 singles to lead 5-0.
Freshman Olivia Schrager (Dayton/Miami Valley) was leading 7-6(6), 4-1 at No. 2 singles and junior Katie Curry (Oxford/Talawanda) was winning 6-1, 3-3 at No. 5 singles when rains halted play.
Ohio Northern will be making its 18th consecutive appearance in the OAC Tournament and captured titles in 2002, 2005, 2009, 2012, 2013 and 2015.
ONU has made it to the OAC Tournament finals six of the past seven seasons and 15 times in the 17-year history of the event.
