Women's Tennis sweeps Thiel (Pa.) 9-0; tops Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) 7-2 in tri-match

WASHINGTON, Pa. — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team swept Thiel (Pa.) 9-0 and defeated Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) 7-2 in a tri-match on Saturday afternoon at the Swanson Tennis Center.
Freshman Olivia Schrager (Dayton/Miami Valley) and junior Katie Curry (Oxford/Talawanda) combined for a 2-0 record in doubles and each went 2-0 in singles to lead the Polar Bears (4-0).
Junior Mackenzie Wills (Ada) also posted a 4-0 mark on the day, going 2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles.
ONU opened the day with 8-0 sweeps on all three doubles courts against Thiel. In singles play, ONU only dropped two games in the top five singles matches and won a thrilling 7-5, 4-6, 10-7 decision at No. 6.
Against W&J, ONU won at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles and 2-6 singles to claim the match.
The Polar Bears will return to action Sept. 22-25 with the ITA regionals at Kalamazoo, Mich.
