Women's Tennis celebrates Senior Day with 8-1 victory over Heidelberg

ADA – The Ohio Northern women's tennis team defeated Heidelberg 8-1 on senior night Friday afternoon at the University Courts.
The Polar Bears improve to 19-4 overall and are 6-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Heidelberg falls to 3-9 overall and 3-2 in the OAC.
The Polar Bears took a quick 3-0 lead by sweeping the doubles courts.
The senior duo of Christina Corbean (Dayton/Oakwood) and Brittany Toney (Greenwood Ind./Greenwood Community) won 8-2 at No. 2 doubles, while freshmen Mackenzie Wills (Ada) and Katie Curry (Oxford/Talawanda) teamed up to win 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.
Sophomore Ashley Ochsenhirt (Birmingham, Ala./Briarwood Christian) and junior Lynn Kelly (Mason) led ONU with an 8-2 at No. 1 doubles.
Ochsenhirt and Corbean led ONU at No. 1 and 3 singles, winning 6-0, 6-0 respectively.
Freshman Kaleigh Cummins (Springfield/Northeastern) also won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. Wills and Toney sealed the victory for the Polar Bears with victories at No. 5 and 6 singles.
Northern will return to action Saturday, Apr. 29 at 1 pm against Capital to wrap up the regular season.
