Women's Tennis defeats OAC-foe Otterbein 8-1

ADA — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team downed Ohio Athletic Conference-foe Otterbein 8-1 Wednesday evening in Westerville at the Otterbein University Tennis Courts.
The Polar Bears improve to 14-3 overall and 1-1 in the OAC, while the Cardinals fall to 9-3, 2-1.
Northern got off to a quick start as it swept the doubles play to take an early 3-0 lead.
The team of junior Lynn Kelly (Mason) and sophomore Ashley Ochsenhirt (Birmingham, Ala./Briarwood Christian) teamed up to win at No. 1 doubles 8-6.
Seniors Brittany Toney (Greenwood, Ind./Greenwood Community) and Christina Corbean (Dayton/Oakwood) teamed up to win 8-5 at No. 2 doubles, while the team of freshmen Mackenzie Wills (Ada) and Katherine Curry (Oxford/Talawanda) won at No. 3 doubles by an 8-1 decision.
In singles play freshman Ola Latala (Grosse Ile, Mich.) and Corbean won 6-2, 6-0 at Nos. 3 and 4 singles, respectively.
At No. 1 singles Ochsenhirt won 6-2, 7-5, while Kelly posted a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles.
Wills sealed the 8-1 victory at No. 6 singles as she won 6-3, 5-7 (10-6).
The Polar Bears return to action Saturday, Apr. 8 as they travel to Alliance to take on the Purple Raiders at 1 pm.
