Women's Tennis runs win streak to five with 9-0 victory over Wittenberg

LIMA -- The Ohio Northern women's tennis team ran its winning streak to five matches with a 9-0 victory over Wittenberg Sunday night indoors at the Westwood Tennis and Fitness Center.
The Polar Bears improve to 13-2 overall, while the Tigers fall to 5-9.
Northern swept the doubles matches to take a quick 3-0 lead.
Junior Lynn Kelly (Mason) and sophomore Ashley Ochsenhirt (Birmingham, Ala./Briarwood Christian) won 8-1 at No. 1 and seniors Christina Corbean (Dayton/Oakwood) and Brittany Toney (Greenwood, Ind.) won 8-2 at No. 2.
Freshmen Ola Latala (Grosse Ile, Mich.) and Mackenzie Wills (Ada) led 7-4 at No. 3 doubles only to see the Tigers storm back to take an 8-7 lead.
ONU held serve to tie the match at 8-all, then swept the tiebreaker 7-0 to win the match 9-8.
Corbean gave Ohio Northern a 4-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 3 singles and Ochsenhirt clinched the match for ONU with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles.
Wills won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 singles, freshman Katherine Curry (Oxford/Talawanda) won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6 singles, freshman Kaleigh Cummins (Springfield/Northeastern) won 6-0, 1-6, 6-3 at No. 4 singles and Latala won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 singles to wrap up the match.
The Polar Bears will return to action April 1 when they host John Carroll in their Ohio Athletic Conference opener.
