HAMILTON — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team opened its 2017 spring schedule with a strong test, falling 7-0 at NCAA Division I foe Miami (Ohio) Sunday night at the Riverside Athletic Club.
The Polar Bears fall to 8-1, while the Redhawks improve to 3-6.
Miami won all six singles matches without losing a set and won the doubles point with three 6-0 proset victories.
Freshman Mackenzie Wills (Ada) won three games to lead ONU, as she fell 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.
The Polar Bears will return to action on March 5 with a double header with Wilkes (Pa.) and Nebraska Wesleyan in Hilton Head Island, S.C., at the beginning of their annual spring break trip.
