Sophomore Ashley Ochsenhirt and freshman Katherine Curry lead Women's Tennis at Oberlin Invitational

ADA — Sophomore Ashley Ochsenhirt and freshman Katherine Curry led the Ohio Northern women's tennis team as they competed in the Oberlin Invitational Sept. 9-11.
Ochsenhirt led the way for Northern as she posted a perfect 6-0 record during the invitational.
The sophomore teamed up with freshman Ola Latala as they defeated Oberlin 8-5, Case Western Reserve 8-2, and Slippery Rock (Pa.) 8-3 to finish 3-0 in doubles play.
Ochsenhirt also posted a 3-0 record in singles play as she defeated Oberlin 6-4, 6-1, John Carroll 7-5, 6-4, and Case Western Reserve 6-2, 6-2.
Latala also went 2-1 in singles play as she defeated Oberlin 7-5, 6-1 in the first round and Case Western Reserve 6-2, 6-1.
Curry posted a 4-2 record during the tournament as she defeated Baldwin Wallace 6-3, 6-0 in the first round of the tournament and also defeated Baldwin Wallace 6-0, 6-4 in the third round of the tournament.
Senior Brittany Toney went 2-1 in singles play as she won 7-6, 7-6 against Baldwin Wallace in the first round and earned a victory in the second round by retirement.
Freshman Mackenzie Wills went 3-3 during the tournament, including a 2-1 record in singles play.
The Polar Bears will return to action Sept. 13 as they travel to Defiance to take on the Yellow Jackets at noon and Concordia (Mich.) at 2:30 pm at the Dix Tennis Courts.
