The Ohio Northern women's tennis team opened its 2015-16 season with a pair of road victories at Saint Francis (Ind.) and Defiance on Friday.
The Polar Bears (2-0) traveled to Fort Wayne, Ind., and edged the Cougars (1-2) 5-4, then went to Defiance and topped the Yellow Jackets (0-2) 8-1.
Sophomore Lynn Kelly and senior Meghan Letizia each posted 4-0 records on the day to lead ONU.
Kelly went 2-0 at No. 1 singles and went 2-0 at No. 1 doubles with senior teammate Taryn Stromback.
Letizia was 2-0 at No. 2 singles and won twice at No. 2 doubles with a pair of partners, combining with both junior Brittany Toney and sophomore Morgan McGlothlin.
Stromback went 3-0 on day, adding a victory at No. 3 singles.
The Polar Bears will wrap up their fall schedule with the ITA Regional Tournament Oct. 2-4 at Kalamazoo, Mich.
