Women's Tennis defeats Capital to win the OAC Regular Season Crown

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team defeated Capital 8-1 Wednesday afternoon at the Capital University Tennis Courts, winning the Ohio Athletic Conference regular season crown outright in the process.
This is the fourth OAC crown in the past five seasons the Polar Bears.
Ohio Northern finishes its regular season 17-3 overall and 8-0 in the OAC, while Capital falls to 3-10, 1-7.
ONU was led in the match by freshman Lynn Kelly, who claimed a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles and teamed up with junior Taryn Stromback to win No. 2 doubles, 8-3.
Stromback also picked up a victory for ONU at No. 3 singles, winning 6-1, 6-0.
Sophomore Brittany Toney, junior Christina Corbean, junior Meghan Letizia and freshman Morgan Schaeffer also claimed victories for Northern.
Toney teamed up with Corbean to win No. 1 doubles 8-1, and claimed No. 4 singles 6-3, 6-0.
In No. 3 doubles, Letizia and Schaeffer teamed up to win 8-1.
Letizia also claimed No. 2 singles 6-0, 6-0, while Schaeffer won No. 5 singles 6-1, 6-2.
The Polar Bears are next in action Tuesday, April 28th as they open OAC Tournament quarterfinal play at the Ohio Northern University Tennis Courts.
