Women's Tennis opens OAC slate with 9-0 sweep of Heidelberg at University Courts

ADA — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team opened the Ohio Athletic Conference schedule in fine fashion, sweeping Heidelberg 9-0 Saturday afternoon at University Courts.
The Polar Bears improve to 7-2 overtall and are 1-0 in OAC action, while the Student Princes fall to 3-5, 0-1.
Senior Michelle Tuma posted an exciting 7-5, 7-5 victory at No. 1 singles to lead the ONU effort.
Juniors Christina Corbean and Taryn Strombeck each won 6-0, 6-0 at Nos. 2 and 5 singles, respectively.
Freshman Lynn Kelly won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles, junior Meghan Letizia won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 singles and sophomore Brittany Toney won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.
Northern started the match by winning all three doubles matches, outscoring HU 27-6.
Strombeck and Kelly won 8-0 at No. 3 doubles, Corbean and Toney won 8-3 at No. 1 doubles and Tuma and Letizia won 8-3 at No. 2 doubles.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Sunday when they host Wittenberg in a men's/women's double header at 1 pm at the Westwood Tennis and Fitness Center in Lima.
