Women's Tennis tops Mount Union 5-1 to advance to OAC Tournament Finals

MASON -- The Ohio Northern women's tennis team defeated Mount Union by a 5-1 score in the OAC Tournament Semifinals on Friday afternoon at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason.
The Polar Bears, seeded second, move to 17-4 on the season, while the third seeded Purple Raiders see their season end at 13-3.
ONU will now face top seeded Otterbein in the OAC Tournament Championship on Saturday morning at 10 am.
Northern opened play by winning two of the three doubles courts.
The tandem of sophomore Rachael Miller and sophomore Taryn Stromback won 8-5 at No. 2 doubles.
Junior Kristin Cellentani and sophomore Meghan Letizia teamed up for a 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles, to give ONU the 2-1 lead.
In singles action, Letizia expanded the Polar Bears lead to 3-1 with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles.
Miller won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles and Cellentani clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles.
The Polar Bears are the two-time defending OAC Tournament champions and will make their fourth straight appearance in the finals.
