Women's Tennis tops Heidelberg 9-0 in OAC opener

TIFFIN -- The Ohio Northern women's tennis team defeated Heidelberg by a 9-0 score to win its OAC opener on Thursday afternoon.
ONU moves to 7-2 overall and 1-0 in the OAC, while Heidelberg falls to 3-6 and 0-1 in the OAC.
The victory also pushes Northern's winning streak in OAC regular season matches to 28.
The Polar Bears won all three doubles matches to open up play.
At No. 1 doubles, the team of sophomore Christina Corbean and freshman Brittany Toney won 8-5.
The No. 2 doubles tandem of sophomore Rachael Miller and sophomore Taryn Stromback scored a 8-1 victory.
Junior Kristin Cellentani and sophomore Meghan Letizia completed the sweep with 8-1 win at No.3 doubles.
In the singles action, Cellentani won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.
Miller won 7-5, 6-0 at No. 5 singles and Toney won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.
Corbean was victorious by 7-5, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, while Stromback won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 singles.
Letizia won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.
Ohio Northern will play again on Wednesday, when it travels to take on Wittenberg at 3 pm in a make-up of the match that was postponed on Mar. 19.
