Women's tennis opens spring season with 5-4 win over Kalamazoo (Mich.)

KALAMAZOO (Mich.) -- Sophomore Brittany Miller won the deciding match to lead the Ohio Northern women's tennis team to a thrilling 5-4 victory at Kalamazoo (Mich.) on Saturday.
Miller broke the 4-4 tie with a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 4 singles.
Northern then dropped No. 1 singles, before freshman Rachael Miller made the match 3-2 with a 7-5, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.
Letizia then tied the match at 3-3 with a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles and Strombeck gave ONU a 4-3 lead, scoring a 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles.
The Hornets would win at No. 2 singles before Miller clinched the match for ONU.
Northern was scheduled to play Valparasio (Ind.) later in the day, but it was cancelled due to weather.
Ohio Northern will be in action again on Saturday (2/9) when they travel to Cleveland to face off against St. Mary's (Ind.) at 1 pm. and Case Western Reserve at 5 pm.
