Women's Tennis to make another OAC Finals appearance after semifinal win over Mount Union

MASON - The Ohio Northern women's tennis team advanced to the OAC Women's Tennis Tournament finals for the second straight season after a 5-0 win over Mount Union on Saturday at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.
The top-seeded Polar Bears are 21-4 overall this season, while the Purple Raiders end the season 13-7.
Even though Northern swept Mount Union in doubles play, it wasn't easy. Sophomores Lauren Rife and Carly Olmstead won No. 3 doubles, 8-3, over Taylor Dowling and Courtney Adamsky.
Junior Christie Gales and sophomore Michelle Tuma battled at No. 1 doubles for the 8-6 win, as did freshmen Brittany Miller and Kristin Cellentani at No. 2 doubles, also winning 8-6.
ONU sealed the win with Cellentani's win at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-1, and sophomore Kelsi Wurm's win at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-2.
The Polar Bears advance to Saturday's finals to take on second-seeded John Carroll at 10 a.m.
The Blue Streaks (14-3 overall) made it to the finals after a 5-3 win over No. 3 seed Otterbein on Friday afternoon.
