Women's Tennis wins 7th straight, stays atop OAC with 9-0 victory at Heidelberg

TIFFIN — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team won its seventh consecutive match and remained undefeated in the Ohio Athletic Conference with a 9-0 victory at Heidelberg Wednesday afternoon.
The Polar Bears improve to 14-4 overall and are 4-0 in OAC play, while the Student Princes fall to 4-3, 2-1.
ONU now has a 1 1/2 game lead on the rest of the league and is the only remaining undefeated team at the halfway point of this year's 8-match regular season schedule and has now won 13 straight OAC regular season contests.
ONU has also won seven straight games for the second time this season after starting the year 7-0.
Sophomore Michelle Tuma won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and combined with junior Christie Gales to win 8-2 at No. 1 doubles.
Freshmen Brittany Miller and Kristin Cellantini won 8-1 at No. 2 doubles. Miller also won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 singles and Cellantini won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.
Sophomores Carly Olmstead and Lauren Rife won 8-1 at No. 3 doubles.
Olmstead also won 7-6(3), 6-2 at No. 3 singles.
Senior Kristin Timperman improved to 14-2 on the year by winning 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5 singles and sophomore Kelsi Wurm won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.
The Polar Bears will return home on Saturday to face Mount Union at 1 pm at University Courts.
