Women's Tennis stays atop OAC standings with 9-0 road victory at Heidelberg

TIFFIN — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team went on the road to defeat Ohio Athletic Conference foe Heidelberg 9-0 Wednesday afternoon.
The Polar Bears improve to 15-5 overall and 5-0 in OAC play) while the Student Princes fall to 9-3 overall, 1-2 OAC.
ONU moved back into sole possession of first place in the OAC standings, one-half match ahead of Baldwin-Wallace, who is 4-0.
Northern swept all three doubles matches, led by the No. 1 doubles team of freshmen Michelle Tuma and Carly Olmstead, who won their match 8-2 over junior Kayla Gerber and freshman Deirdre Potter.
Freshmen Emily Mueller and Lauren Rife won their No. 2 doubles match 8-1 over the doubles pair of senior Jackquelyn Earl and freshman Kam Haifleigh.
No. 3 doubles was won by the Polar Bear team of sophomore Christie Gales and freshman Kelsi Wurm 8-1 over junior Linda Miller and freshman Taylor Stoll.
Tuma took her No. 1 singles match 6-2, 6-3 over Potter. Tuma's win today brings her record to 13-11 overall and 3-1 in the OAC.
No. 2 singles was won by Mueller 6-0, 6-2 over Gerber.
Olmstead won her No. 3 singles match against Earl 6-3, 6-1.
Gales, Wurm and Rife also won their singles' matches, respectively.
The Polar Bears will return to the courts Saturday when they take on OAC opponent Baldwin-Wallace at 1 p.m. on University Courts.
