Women's Tennis wins 10th straight, moves to 7-0 in OAC action with 6-3 victory over Otterbein

ADA — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team remained undefeated in Ohio Athletic Conference action with a 6-3 victory over Otterbein Tuesday afternoon at the ONU Sports Center.
The Polar Bears improve to 17-5 overall (7-0 in the OAC) while the Cardinals fall to 11-7, 4-2.
Northern also moved within one OAC victory of clinching at least a share of the OAC Regular Season title.
ONU will cliaim the title with wins in either of its final regular season matches against either Wilmington next Tuesday or Mount Union on April 30.
Ohio Northern also extended its winning streak to 10 matches.
The Polar Bears swept the three doubles matches to take a quick 3-0 lead.
The No. 3 doubles pair of sophomore Christie Gales and freshman Kelsi Wurm won 8-4 over the Cardinal pair of juniors Andrea Bennett and Christine Kuester.
No. 1 doubles was won by freshmen Michelle Tuma and Carly Olmstead 9-8 over sophomore Taylor Jordan and freshman Julie Stroyne.
The freshmen doubles pair of Emily Mueller and Lauren Rife won No. 2 doubles 8-6 against senior Kylie Hammons and freshman Brooke Trine.
The two teams split the six singles matches, which was enough for Ohio Northern to claim the match.
Olmstead won her No. 2 singles match 2-6, 6-2, 7-6 over Otterbein's Jordan.
No. 3 singles was won by Mueller 6-4, 7-5 against Trine.
The No. 5 singles match was by ONU's Wurm 6-3, 6-3 over Cheplowitz.
The Polar Bears will return to action when they host OAC opponent Wilmington next Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
