Starkey wins 200 back, leads Women's Swimming and Diving in regular season finale against Grove City (Pa.)

ADA — Senior Shelby Starkey (Bellefontaine) won the 200-yard back to lead the Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team in a 173-95 loss to Grove City (Pa.) in the squad's regular season finale on Saturday at the ONU Sports Center.
The Polar Bears fall to 4-5 overall, while the Wolverines improve to 8-1.
Starkey won the 200 back in 2:12.75.
Senior Gabbie Grant (St. Clair Shores, Mich./Lakeview) had a pair of second place finishes for ONU. She was second in the 50 free in :26.45 and the 100 free in :56.96.
Senior Abby Schauer (Beavercreek) touched in second place behind Starkey in the 200 back in 2:26.50.
Junior Katie Bend (Carmel, Ind.), sophomores Mara Brown (Fremont/Ross) and Aubrey Pritchard (Delaware/Olentangy Berlin) and freshman Meghan Mattison (Easton, Pa.) also posted second place finishes on the afternoon.
Bend was second in the 1650 free in 19:24.23, Brown was second in the 100 fly in 1:01.89, Pritchard was second in the 200 breast in 2:43.33 and Mattison was second in the 200 I.M. in 2:23.88.
The Polar Bears return to action Feb. 15-18 with the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships at the University of Akron's Ocasek Natatorium.
