Women’s Swimming and Diving posts 7 first-place finishes, tops Baldwin Wallace 123-95 on Senior Day

ADA — The Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team posted seven first-place finishes in a 123-95 win over Baldwin Wallace on Saturday's Senior Day at the ONU Sports Center.
The Polar Bears improve to 4-4 overall and 2-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference while dropping the Yellow Jackets to 8-5, 1-2.
Seniors Shelby Starkey (Bellefontaine) and Gabbie Grant (St. Clair Shores, Mich./Lakeview) each posted three first-place finishes.
Starkey won the 100 back in 1:01.96 and was part of a pair of first-place relay teams.
She joined sophomores Mara Brown (Fremont/Ross) and Sydney Selinsky (Dover/Tuscarawas Central Catholic) and freshman Meghan Mattison (Easton, Pa.) to win the 200 medley relay in 1:55.06 and joined Grant, Selinsky and sophomore Annie Richters (Troy/Miami East) to win the 200 free relay in 1:45.71.
Grant added first-place finishes in the 200 free in 2:04.97 and the 100 free in :57.26.
Mattison won the 100 fly in 1:03.10, and junior Katie Bend (Carmel, Ind.) won the 1,000 free in 11:31.01.
The Polar Bears also posted five second-place finishes.
Richters was second in the 50 free in :26.76, Bend was second in the 500 free in 5:41.24, Brown was second in the 100 breast in 1:10.82, sophomore Hannah Eversole (Cincinnati/Mt. Notre Dame) was second in the 400 IM in 5:07.64, and senior Abby Schauer (Beavercreek) was second in the 100 back in 1:05.30.
The Polar Bears return to action on Saturday for a home dual meet against Grove City (Pa.).
