Women’s Swimming and Diving wins tri-meet at Ohio Wesleyan with Bluffton

DELAWARE — The Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team won a tri-meet at Ohio Wesleyan with Bluffton on Friday night at the Meek Center.
The Polar Bears (3-4) won 109-80 over Ohio Wesleyan (3-4) and 161-19 over Bluffton (0-6).
Northern posted first-place finishes in six events.
Senior Shelby Starkey (Bellefontaine) won the 1,000 free in 12:07.01, senior Gabbie Grant (St. Clair Shores, Mich./Lakeview) won the 50 free in :26.99, sophomore Mara Brown (Fremont/Ross) won the 100 free in :57.45, and junior Katie Bend (Carmel, Ind.) won the 500 free in 5:37.92.
The Polar Bears also won the two relay events.
Brown joined senior Abby Schauer (Beavercreek), freshman Meghan Mattison (Easton, Pa.) and sophomore Annie Richters (Troy/Miami East) to win the 200 medley relay in 1:57.06.
Starkey, Grant, Richters and sophomore Sydney Selinsky (Dover/Tuscarawas Central Catholic) won the 200 free relay in 1:47.68.
The Polar Bears return to action on Saturday when they host Ohio Athletic Conference foe Baldwin Wallace at 1 p.m.
