Senior Megan Lubinski leads Women's Swimming and Diving in tri-meet at Hilldsale (Mich.)

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Seniors Megan Lubinski (Loveland/Brighton) had three second place finishes to lead the Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team in a tri-meet at Hillsdale (Mich.) with Hope (Mich.) on Saturday at McAvoy Natatorium.
The Polar Bears (1-2 overall) fell to NCAA Division II Hillsdale (3-0) 211-63 and to Hope (2-1) 218-77. Hillsdale downed Hope 165-128 to complete the tri-meet.
Lubinski was second in the 50-yard free in :25.60, the 100-yard free in :55.86 and the 200-yard free in 2:01.40.
Sophomore Katie Bend (Carmel, Ind.) and freshman Karli Katterle (Rocky River) placed fourth and sixth in the 1000 free, touching in 11:38.20 and 11:54.99, respectively.
Freshman Mara Brown (Fremont/Ross) had a pair of top-6 finishes, placing fifth in the 100 fly in 1:02.85 and sixth in the 200 I.M. in 2:21.35.
Sophomore Shelby Starkey (Bellefontaine) was sixth the 200 back in 2:18.33 and freshman Morgan Fernandez (Huber Heights/Wayne) was sixth in the 200 fly in 2:37.96.
Lubinski,freshman Annie Richters (Troy/Miami East), freshman Sydney Selinsky (Dover/Tuscarawas Central Catholic) and senior Lauren Shaw (Port Clinton) were fourth in the 400 free relay in 3:53.16.
The Polar Bears will return to action next Saturday when they host John Carroll in their home opener at the ONU Sports Center.
