Women's Swimming and Diving ties for third place at Kenyon Relays in 2018-19 season opener

GAMBIER — The Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team opened its 2018-19 season at the Kenyon Relays on Saturday afternoon at the Steen Aquatic Center in the debut of first-year head coach Austin Veltman.
The Polar Bears tied for third place with 52 points in the 7-team meet.
Kenyon won the team title with 132 points, Wooster was second with 74 points, and Ohio Northern and Ohio Wesleyan tied for third with 52 points.
Each team scored only its top finishing relay in a 14-10-8-6-4-2 format.
In that format the Polar Bears scored the 10 second place points in two of the eight swimming events.
Northern was second in the 500 crescendo relay in 5:00.63 and the 400 I.M. relay in 4:20.22.
ONU also finished second in the mixed 200 medley relay with freshman Megan Lubinski (Milford/Brighton) and senior Kierra Watson (Brownsburg, Ind.) combining with seniors Pete He (Mason) and Anthony Ferrell (Canton/Glen Oak) in 1:44.19.
In all, Lubinski was on all three relay teams, while Watson and sophomore Marissa Taylor (Granite Falls, N.C./South Caldwell) were on two relays each.
Ohio Northern will return to action next weekend with Ohio Athletic Conference meets at home with Wilmington on Friday and at John Carroll on Saturday.
