Women's Swimming & Diving: Ohio Northern (5-4-1 Overall) at OAC Championships

OAC Championships Meet: Ohio Northern is looking for its eighth OAC Championships title in program history Thursday-Saturday at the University of Akron's Ocasek Natatorium ... ONU won its first title in 2007 and then won six consecutive crowns from 2009-14 ... The championships consists of 13 swimming events, two diving events and five relays over a 3-day span ... Prelims will begin at 10 am each day, with the finals at 6:30, 6 and 5:30 pm Thursday-Saturday, respectively ... The top three individuals and the top two relay teams in each event will earn All-OAC honors ... Each swimmer is allowed to compete in three individual races and up to four relays ... ONU finished in third place in the OAC Regular Season standings this season with a 2-2 record ... Senior Sydney Veon leads the OAC in the 100 free (:53.46) and is second in the 50 free (:24.48) and the 100 breast (1:06.75) ... Veon earned All-OAC honors in all three events a year ago ... Sophomore Lauren Halle is the defending OAC champion and currently leads the OAC in the 200 fly (2:13.26) ... She also earned All-OAC honors in the 400 I.M. a year ago ... Thsi season, she is ranked second in gthe 400 I.M. (4:40.77) and third in the 200 I.M. (2:12.23) ... Freshman Marissa Taylor leads the OAC in the 200 back (2:09.81), is second in the 200 I.M. (2:12.068) and is third in the 400 I.M. (4:41.09) ... Sophomore Libby Sartschev was second in the 3-meter diving a year ago to earn All-OAC kudos ... Junior Kierra Watson was All-Conference in the 200 I.M. and the 100 back in 2017.

ONU head coach Peggy Ewald: Ewald is in her 14th season at ONU and is the program's all-time winningest coach with an 85-75-1 women's dual meet record, a winning percentage of .531. She has been named OAC Women's Coach of the Year five times and had guided the Polar Bear women to seven OAC Championships crowns and 10 OAC Regular Season titles.
