This Weekend's Meet: The Polar Bears will travel to Grand Rapids, Mich., for the 4-team Calvin (Mich.) Quad Meet Friday-Saturday ... #24 Calvin (Mich.), Albion (Mich.) and Carthage (Wis.) will also compete at the meet ... The meet format is the same as the OAC Championships format, with 20 events for both the men and women - 13 individual races, 1- and 3-meter diving and 5 relay events ... The meet will also be broken down into three compressed sessions without preliminary races on Friday night, Saturday morning and Saturday afternoon ... Ohio Northern kicked off its 2017-18 campaign on Oct. 14 at the Kenyon Relays and Denison Diving Meets ... The Polar Bears finished fifth of eight teams with 40 points ... In the 200-yard mixed medley relay, the team of senior Sydney Veon (Riverside, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) and freshman Marissa Taylor (Granite Falls, N.C./South Caldwell) joined forces with two ONU men swimmers to post a third place finish in the event in 1:45.95 ... In the 200 breaststroke relay, the team of Veon, junior Kierra Watson (Brownsburg, Ind.) and sophomores Katelyn Koebel (Port Clinton) and Lauren Halle (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton) posted a fifth place finish in 2:12.23 ... Freshman Claire Kaiding (Waterford, Mich./Brandon) led the way for ONU in the diving events, finishing sixth overall in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events with 159.00 and 108.10 points, respectively.

ONU head coach Peggy Ewald: Ewald is in her 13th season at ONU and is the program's all-time winningest coach with an 80-71 women's dual meet record, a winning percentage of .530. She has been named OAC Women's Coach of the Year five times and had guided the Polar Bear women to seven OAC Championships crowns and 10 OAC Regular Season titles.
