Saturday's Meets: The Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team will open its 2017-18 season on Saturday when the swimmers compete at the Kenyon Relays and the divers compete at the Denison Diving Meet ... The men and women will compete in eight relays each and will combine to swim the Mixed 200 Relay ... The scoring will follow the standard 14-10-8-6-4-2 relay scoring format with the top relay from each team eligible for scoring ... The top two divers in each of the 1- and 3-meter competitions will also score as a relay in the team standings of the Kenyon Relays meet ... Ohio Northern will look to rebound in 2017-18 compete for an OAC Championships title under 14th-year head coach Peggy Ewald ... The Polar Bears posted a third place finish in the OAC during the regular season and at the OAC Championships a season ago ... Ewald and her staff welcome back 10 letterwinners in 2017-18 and will look to lean on their experience in 2017-18 ... Three time OAC Champion and 3-time letterwinner Sydney Veon (will look to lead Northern this season ... The senior is an 8-time All-OAC honoree, including All-OAC finishes in the 50 and 100 free and 200 free relay and 200 medley relay during the 2016-17 campaign ... Veon is also currently part of three ONU record-holding relay teams ... Also returning this season as All-OAC honorees are senior Hailee Sautter, junior Kierra Watson, and sophomores Kyley Stuart,, Kyley Stuart, Libby Sartschev and Lauren Halle ... Seniors Maggie Dempster and Kasey Mucher are both 3-year letterwinners and 2-time Academic All-OAC honoree ... Sophomore letterwinners Katelyn Koebel and Katey Stuart also return for the Polar Bears ... Northern welcomes nine freshman to the program this season.

ONU head coach Peggy Ewald: Ewald is in her 13th season at ONU and is the program's all-time winningest coach with an 80-71 women's dual meet record, a winning percentage of .530. She has been named OAC Women's Coach of the Year five times and had guided the Polar Bear women to seven OAC Championships crowns and 10 OAC Regular Season titles.
