Junior Jill Chapman competes in the 50 Free on Day 1 of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving junior Jill Chapman kicked off her second NCAA Championships Tuesday by competing in the 50 Free event at the 2016 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
Chapman finished 27th out of 54 swimmers in :23.79.
The junior entered the meet ranked 22nd overall with a season-best time of :23.65.
"Jill felt a lot better about her swim this year compared to last year," said head coach Peggy Ewald. "She learned a lot from last years experience and was able to use it this year."
"I felt like I had a really strong race," said Chapman. "I improved from last season and felt really good about that."
Last season, Chapman finished 35th overall in :23.99.
Th top eight finishers in the prelims of each event earn All-America honors and advance to the Final in the evening session each day, while finishers 9-16 advance to the Consolation Final and earn Honorable Mention All-America honors.
