Women's Swimming and Diving clinches share of OAC Regular Season title; wins Golden Kickboard with 153-87 victory at BW

BEREA — The Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team clinched its ninth Ohio Athletic Conference Regular Season title and won the Gold Kickboard trophy for the 10th consecutive season with a 153-87 victory at Baldwin Wallace at the BW Natatorium on Friday night.
The Polar Bears improve to 4-4 overall and finish OAC Regular Season action with a 3-1 record, while the Yellow Jackets fall to 6-5, 1-2.
ONU clinched at least a share of the OAC Regular Season title with its 3-1 record and is now 10-2 in the Golden Kickboard series with Baldwin Wallace, dating to the 2005 season.
Northern won seven of the 13 events to win the meet.
Senior Allison Lohnes led the Polar Bears by sweeping the free sprint events, winning the 50 free in :25.77 and the 100 free in :56.97.
Junior Molly Wheeler finished second in both events behind Lohnes in :26.43 and :58.46.
Sophomore Sydney Veon won the 200 free in 2:06.08 and was second in the 500 free in 5:46.69.
Sophomore Hailee Sautter led a 1-2-3 finish in the 500 free with a win in 5:41.12 and freshman Lauren Chaney won the 100 breast in 1:15.24 to lead a 1-2-3 ONU finish in that event.
The Polar Bears swept the two relays, opening the event with a win in the 200 medley relay in 1:54.83 and wrapped up the meet with a win the the 200 medley relay in 1:44.56.
Ohio Northern will return to action on Saturday when they host #25-ranked Case Western Reserve an NCAA Division II foe Hillsdale (Mich.) in a tri-meet at 1 pm at the ONU Sports Center Natatorium.
The meet is also ONU's annual Swim for Cystic Fibrosis fundraiser.
