ADA — The Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team fell to Mount Union 174-125 Saturday afternoon at the ONU Sports Center Natatorium.
The Polar Bears fall to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Purple Raiders improve their record to 6-2, 2-1.
Junior Jill Chapman led the way for the Polar Bears with two individual first place finishes.
Chapman won the 50-yard free in 24.63 seconds and won the 100 free in 55.48 seconds.
"We are continuing to challenge where our best events can be for a few of the swimmers," ONU head coach Peggy Ewald said. "As we mix up the line up, we're finding some new ground to explore. We've had a few injuries and such over the past couple of weeks that required some of the mix up of events. All in all, going back to back meets gave a good opportunity for us to race decently while tired. We still have much to learn over the last final weeks of the regular season. The team is responding to that challenge."
The team of Chapman, freshmen Kierra Watson, Lauren Chaney and Alyson Rohrer took first place in the 200 medley relay in 1:55.26.
Watson was also victorious in the 100 back, finishing in 1:02.63, while Chaney finished first in the 200 IM in 2:20.57.
Junior Emily Uhrin took second place in the 200 free in 2:03.02, while sophomore Hailee Sautter finished second in the 500 free in 5:35.26.
Freshman Emily Jones finished second in the 1-meter diving with 155.45 points, while junior Brianna Tingley took second place in the 200 fly in 2:30.79.
The Polar Bears will return to the pool Friday at 6 pm as they travel to Baldwin Wallace for the annual Golden Kickboard meet.
