Freshman Emily Uhrin sets school record in 200 free to lead Women's Swimming & Diving on Day 2 of Wooster Invitational
WOOSTER — Freshman Emily Uhrin set a school record in the 200 free to lead the Ohio Northern women's swimming & diving team on the second day of the Wooster Invitational on Friday at the Shapiro Natatorium and the Wooster Natatorium.
The Polar Bears are fifth of 10 teams with 697 points after the second day of the three-day meet.
Nationally-ranked NCAA Division II schools Edinboro (Pa.) and Gannon (Pa.) hold down the top two spots. No. 30-ranked Edinboro is first with 1075 points, No. 28 Gannon is second with 907 points and Division III Westminster (Pa.) is third with 773 points.
Uhrin led a day of outstanding swims for the Polar Bears, finishing fifth out of 48 swimmers in the 200 free in a school-record 1:56.05.
Senior Lindsey Rayhill finished fifth in the 100 fly in :57.83, just .1 of a second shy of the NCAA "B" Cut for the event.
Sophomore Allison Lohnes had the highest finish for ONU on the day, placing third in the 100 back in :58.31. She was less than a second off of the NCAA "B" Cut effort.
The top 24 individuals and top 16 relay teams score points in the meet.
Through two days of competition, ONU swimmers have set season-best efforts in 79 of the 81 preliminary swims on Thursday and Friday afternoons.
Northern swimmers have also has posted 21 career-best swims thus far in the meet
Day 3 of the meet will begin Saturday with trials at 10 am and finals at 5 pm.
Diving on Saturday will begin at Noon with 11-dive competitions at the Wooster Natatorium on campus.
