PITTSBURGH, Pa. — The Ohio Northern women's soccer team fell 4-0 at No. 2 Carnegie Mellon on Friday afternoon.
The Basics

The Match
- The Tartans took a 1-0 lead in the 8th minute when Cecelia Dieterich found the back of the net on a deflection off of ONU freshman goalkeeper Morgan Moeller (Harrison/Roger Bacon).
- CMU made it 2-0 in the 39th minute on a goal from Saveria Ulizzi and added a third goal before halftime off the foot of Breana Valentovish in the 43rd minute.
- The Tartans closed the scoring with a goal from Ayana Curto with 38 seconds remaining in the game.
- Juniors Elizabeth Pierce (Liberty Township/Mount Notre Dame) and Jill Newlan (Marshalville/Smithville) led the Polar Bears with two shots each.
- Moeller played all 90 minutes in goal for ONU and recorded four saves.
- MCU finished with a 10-8 advantage in shots and 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
Notables
- This was the second time this season that the Polar Bears have played a team ranked No. 2 nationally in the United Soccer Coaches Poll. Case Western Reserve was ranked No. 2 during its match with ONU on Sept. 3.
- Friday's match was the third in the current five-game stretch in which Northern is playing a team ranked in the top 25 of the United Soccer Coaches Poll.
