DUBUQUE, Iowa — No. 15-ranked Loras (Iowa) scored on a set piece in the 73rd minute and held on for a 1-0 victory over Ohio Northern in the second round of the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament on Sunday at the Rock Bowl.
The Polar Bears end their season with a 14-2-5 record, while the Duhawks advance to the Sweet 16 with an 18-0-3 record.
Loras scored on a long free kick into the box, where Ryleigh O'Brien headed the ball into the net with 17:13 left for the match's only score.
LC out-shot ONU 19-10 and had a 7-3 edge in corner kicks.
Senior Becky Moss (Lebanon/Mount Notre Dame) was outstanding in goal, posting a career-high nine saves.
The Polar Bears were making their seventh NCAA Tournament appearance in program history.
Northern has competed in the NCAA Tournament in five of the past seven seasons and are 7-7-2 all-time in the NCAA Tournament, advancing to the Elite 8 in 2017 and the Sweet 16 in 2019.
