DANVILLE, Ky. — The 18th-ranked Ohio Northern women's soccer team got its first win of the season Sunday, defeating North Central (Ill.) 1-0 in the consolation game of the Centre (Ky.) Tournament at Amend Field.
Sophomore Jill Roberts (Bellbrook/Carroll) scored what proved to be the game-winning goal for the Polar Bears (1-1-1 overall) with just over 13 minutes remaining in the second half. That was one of a team-high three shots Roberts took in the game.
Senior goalkeeper Kristy Catrine (Springboro) made five saves in the shutout.
Sarah Andrey attempted a game-high four shots while goalkeeper Jordan Boyd made five saves for the Cardinals (0-2-0 overall).
ONU finished with 10 shots, including six on goal.
North Central attempted seven shots, five of which were on frame.
Following her goal, Roberts got off another shot with just over seven minutes remaining, but Boyd made the save to keep hope alive for the Cardinals.

The Polar Bears will look to keep up their winning ways when they host Mount Saint Joseph on Friday at Kerscher Stadium at 7 p.m.
