Three named Academic All-OAC in Women's Soccer

ADA — While the Ohio Northern women's soccer team enjoys success on the field during its current historic NCAA Tournament run, the Polar Bears have also excelled in the classroom as three athletes were named Academic All-OAC for the 2017 season.
Senior Anna Niemeyer (Loveland), junior Sarah Puntel (Strongsville), and sophomore Haley Moses (Mason) all earned the honor for ONU.
The award winners must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status and have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.50.
Niemeyer, a senior Marketing major from Loveland, Ohio is now a 3-time Academic All-OAC honoree.
The senior currently ranks third on the team with seven goals and 17 points. Niemeyer is also a 3-time All-OAC honoree.
Puntel, a Management/Risk Management and Insurance major from Strongsville, has earned Academic All-OAC kudos for the second consecutive season.
The junior has four goals and two assists this season and has appeared in 22 games, while starting in 21 this season. Puntel has appeared in 56 career games with 41 career starts.
Moses, an Engineering major from Mason, earned the honor for the first time in her career.
The sophomore was recently named the OAC Midfielder of the Year for the 2017 season and has started in all 40 games during her first two seasons as a Polar Bear. The sophomore has four goals and four assists this season.
The Polar Bears continue their season on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 11 am as they compete in the sectional round of the NCAA III Tournament and take on No. 2-ranked William Smith (N.Y.) in Geneva, N.Y.
