BEXLEY — Sophomore Rose Nienaber (Cincinnati/Oak Hills) led the No. 17-ranked Ohio Northern women's soccer team to its eighth consecutive victory on Saturday afternoon, as the Polar Bears defeated Capital 1-0 at Bernlohr Stadium.
The Polar Bears improve to 10-1-1 overall and become the only Ohio Athletic Conference school with an undefeated conference record at 3-0-0.
The Crusaders fall to 4-6-1, 2-1-0.
Ohio Northern was able to keep pressure on the CU defense in the first half, outshooting the hosts 9-2.
After a scoreless first half, Northern would strike early in the second half as Nienaber scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season to give ONU a 1-0 lead.
From there, Northern would outshoot the Crusaders 5-3 as it went on to win the contest 1-0.
Sophomore Meagan Grierson (Miamisburg) earned the victory in the goal, posting her league-leading seventh shutout of the season.
The Polar Bears out shot the Crusaders 16-5 during the contest, while the two teams each recorded two corner kicks.
Ohio Northern returns to action on Tuesday evening as they travel to Tiffin to take on the Student Princes of Heidelberg at 4 pm.
